    Main / Conditions of participation for foreign / International folklore festival "Skamba skamba kankliai" Conditions of participation For foreign folklore performers MAIN INFORMATION 1. The organiser of Skamba skamba kankliai (hereinafter – the Festival), the Vilnius Ethnic Culture Centre (hereinafter – the Organiser), invites individuals and groups operating outside of the Republic of Lithuania, to participate in the festival on 23−26 May 2024. 2. The Festival takes place in Vilnius every year on the last week of May. 3. The Festival is attended by Lithuanian and foreign folklore groups and individual performers. 4. It is a festival for fans of authentic folklore; stylised folklore or professional groups of performers are not invited. 5. Events take place on outdoor stages, in courtyards, and concert halls – in the open and closed spaces in Vilnius, as well as in other nearby cities in Lithuania (locations will be specified). 6. Events of the Festival include: Introductory Evening, Opening Ceremony, various performances on stage, Processions, Closing Ceremony, etc. 7. Performers should prepare several programmes of different durations (ranging from 5 to 30 minutes) ELIGIBILITY OF PARTICIPANTS 8. Folklore groups or individual performers may apply for participation. 9. A participating group should consist of a maximum of 15 performers (incl. musicians, leaders, driver(s), etc.). 10. “Tourists” (members who have nothing to do with the performances of the group) are not accepted. Unfortunately, the Festival will not host them. 11. Performances must be live. Audio recordings are not allowed. 12. Performers can represent various folklore genres (songs, dances, instrumental music, rituals, crafts, etc.). 13. Each group/participant will be accompanied by a host throughout the duration of the festival. REQUIREMENTS AND ACCEPTANCE OF APPLICATIONS 14. Applications must be filled out by 1 April 2024. The form is provided on the Festival’s website: www.ssk.lt . 15. Festival fee is €50 per person, which should be transferred to the Festival’s account* after the Application is approved but no later than 1 May 2024. If the group decides to cancel participation after this date and it is not the fault of the Festival’s Organisers (for example: travel visa can’t be issued for participant/s), this fee is not refunded; if approved candidates do not pay the Festival fee until the deadline, participation of this group/performer is cancelled. The Organisers reserve the right to invite foreign performers free of charge. 16. After the Festival issues the official invitation, the Applicant must submit the following documents no later than 1 May 2024: Complete list of participants; Technical requirements; Performance programme; Digital copy of flight/other transport booking documents (e-ticket); Digital copy of travel visas, etc.; Digital copy of insurance. ​ 17. Participants are themselves responsible for international transportation, travel insurance, visa costs (if applicable), and international shipping/cargo of instruments and costumes if they are needed for the performances. Only some transport expenses inside Lithuania can be guaranteed by the organisers of the Festival. 18. Participants need to provide a flag of their own country which will be used during the Festival Procession. If the group, ensemble, or individual Participant has any other attributes of their own (flag with the name of the group on it, etc.) it can be also used. 19. Participants can bring some goods representing the traditional life of their country (e.g., handiwork, traditional meals, traditional instruments etc.) as souvenirs to sell. If they have their own CDs or DVDs, Participants are welcome to bring these as well. Objects for sale will be made available in the Festival booth at the Traditional Fair. ACCOMMODATION AND MEALS 20. The members of each group will be accommodated by the Festival Organisers. The accommodation is provided from one day prior to the opening of the Festival until one day after the closing of the Festival. 21. The members of each group will be provided 3 meals a day (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) during the duration of the Festival. Please note that the Organisers are not responsible for extra expenses; meals are covered only during the days of the Festival. INSURANCE 22. Participants take part in the Festival at their own risk. 23. Participants must be insured against all risks: illnesses, accidents, etc. The Festival will take no responsibility for any financial and/or other consequences regarding the above. CLOSING REMARKS 24. The Participants’ daily schedule will be arranged by the Organisers and given to them on the day of their arrival. Please note that small adjustments may be made during the Festival period. 25. The Organisers reserve the right to broadcast the Festival’s performances partly or in full. 26. Participants authorise the Organisers to use any performance pictures or videos taken during the Festival for the Festival’s promotion. AGREEMENT 27. By participating in the Festival, Participants accept these conditions. 28. The leaders of groups are asked to familiarise the members of their groups with these conditions.
